About Cornell Physical Intelligence
Cornell Physical Intelligence (CUPI), listed by Cornell as the Cornell Physical Intelligence Club, is a Cornell University student robotics organization. We create physical systems that can intelligently reason and interact with their environments. The gap between AI software and hardware needs to be closed seamlessly, and through our multidisciplinary team, we pursue this symbiosis. We prioritize creative, ambitious, and self-starting thinkers, because the problems worth solving here do not come with instructions.
CUPI Subteams
- Mechanical: Mechanical members at CuPI design the structures that enable sensing, motion, and autonomy. From drone frames to walking robots, MechEs turn requirements from CS and ECE into lightweight, robust, and modular hardware.
- Electrical: ECE members at CuPI design the electronics and embedded systems that power our robots—from custom PCBs to firmware and communication stacks. Each project is tightly coupled to a physical platform, with boards designed, assembled, and tested by the team.
- Software: CS members at CuPI build the autonomy and perception software that runs on our robots in the real world. Our work spans aerial and ground platforms, with projects tied directly to physical hardware and live sensor data—not just simulation.
- Business & Marketing: Business & Marketing members manage finances, recruitment, and outreach to connect CuPI with sponsors, new members, and the broader Cornell community.
